    Out-Of-Character Information

    Steam Name: Lootenant Jay Jordunn

    Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:17388163

    Requested Unit Digits (5): 93014

How long have you been roleplaying? Around five years or so.

Do you have any past experience roleplaying as a Civil Protection Unit? Yes, as a unit in Nova Gaming and in Overwatch Gaming

What lead your character to join the Metropolice Force? His mentality mostly, and he saw what the resistance would do if they successfully overthrew the combine on Earth. There is a little bit of starving in there to though.

What are your character's personality traits? (Personality and mentality.)Ryan Walker is a stoic, very indifferent in most situations and chooses the more logical option. Ryan is also a survivor, living in the outlands for nearly eight years. He also hates losing, and will usually try to refrain from doing that. He's also a loner, and usually tries to stay away from people.

Write a Background Story (App. 2+ Paragraphs) of your character's life, and how they got into their current situation:
Ryan Walker was born in Sacramento, California to his father Jack Walker and his mother Elene Walker. He was taught by his father the way of the stoics, and was able to achieve a largely impassive attitude at the age of eight. While he was going through school he was regarded as an outsider, and a loner. He was largely made fun of, but his stoic nature knew that such things as popularity was irreverent. His mother was largely worried about him during his school years, as he refused to make any friends. As a large intellectual Ryan was a straight A student, and was highly praised by his teachers. He soon got a scholarship to go to Yale, to major in philosophy. He achieved his masters degree after years of study, and achieved his goal. Ryan moved back to his home town of Sacramento. At the age of twenty three he became a writer. His first book was called the Rise and Fall of Earth which depicted the short battle between Earth's defenders and a largely superior force. The book was published and it became a large hit around the country. After a year of reaping the benefits of his best sellers the Black Mesa incident occurred, and the entire west coast began evacuations. He was the unlucky ones and was one of the lasts to be evacuated.

Ryan was able to board the last of the Black Hawks leaving the state, his fight through the riots was a hard one. He sound of UH-60's rotors begins a slow churning to a full blender of noise. The aircraft gains altitude and tilts forward, the Earth begins to fly past as the helicopter begins it's trip to a larger refugee camp on the east coast. Ryan looks to his fellow passengers and stares at one who looks like he recognizes him. The man reaches down and takes out a book from his bad, he holds it up and looks at Ryan. "You're Ryan Walker aren't you? Nice to meet you, I absolutely love your book," the man says. Ryan only nods and returns to looking out of the window. The soldiers begin talking in a hushed tone, but increase to full on yelling. The helicopter suddenly tilts to the side as a large blob of energy nearly hits its belly. There's a intense heat in the back of the UH-60 as the tail is seared off. The pilot yells to the passengers to brace as the aircraft rapidly descends into a forest.

The burning wreckage is scattered all around the small area of the crash site. Ryan slowly opens his eyes with a throbbing pain in his head and an intense pain in his left wrist. He uses his good hand to come to his knees, but his stomach convulses and he empties his stomach on the ground in front of him. The sound of metallic thumping comes from behind him as he stumbles to his feet disoriented. He coughed up a bit of blood as it slowly leaks from the inside of his cheek. The thumps began to get closer as he began to rip a piece of his shirt and turn it into a sling. He begins to stumble through the wooded area, leaving the horrible crash behind him. The thumps began to get further away as he regained feeling in his legs, and he as fast as he could with a limp in his right leg. Ryan didn't know it, but for the next couple of years this would be his home.

Ryan emerged from the cave and smelled the air of the pined area. It had been eight years since the helicopter crash. By his calculations it's in the years of the two thousand teens, and the world had seemed to change in an instant. The invaders had used some sort of synthetic beings to take over the world, and he didn't know why. He was on escape and evasion for the past eight years. The "synths" he called them began to come less and less frequent, but they were replaced by tall figures in heavy blue armor. The figures were large, menacing in the dark with their blue lenses. He sighed and turned to his wolf companion, who he had picked up two years after the crash. Ryan whistled and the wold trotted out of the cave Ryan used as a shelter. He quickly set out in search of water in the now dense forest. The sound of streets and vehicles is heard as Ryan follows the river up-stream. He follows the sound until the sound is nearly intolerable. Ryan looks through the treeline and his mouth drops as a large metropolis comes into view.

He blinks a few times and rubs his eyes but the large city still stands. Ryan bends his knees slightly and scans the perimeter for any of the synths of blue figures. Not finding one in the current vicinity he turns to his wolf, who is looking at him with large puppy eyes. Ryan signals the wolf to stay in which its eyes fill with sadness, but it sits and lays down. Ryan turns and spots a small opening in the giant wall. He crouches down in a professional runners stance, and he leaps from the treeline in a full sprint. Living in the woods didn't make you weak. Ryan was across the passing in seconds, and he dived into the opening, only to fall into the foulest smelling water. He swims up and gasps as he breaches the surface, and he reaches up and grabs hold of the cement on the sides. He pulls himself up and rolls onto his back panting. The sound of footsteps comes close and a cloth comes over Ryan's face.

The wretched smell of a sewer woke Ryan. He laid on the stained mattress as he slowly opened his eyes. He groaned and slid off of the horrible smelling mattress. He quickly realized what had happened before and hopped to his feet only to feel a sharp jab in his mind. He gripped his head and clenched his teeth to keep from yelling out in pain. A slight movement caught Ryan's eye and he whipped around to see a man standing there with a hard look in his eyes. He help a pipe in his hands and self consciously tapped it against his leg. He looked directly into Ryan's eyes and said, "You look to well fed for one of the citizens, yet you don't have a transponder or a bio-signal. You also came from the outside, and not from the entrance. Either the civil protection units are getting desperate or your from the outlands. So, which is it?"

Ryan stared at him with extreme confusion. Ryan honestly hadn't known what he was talking about. That was bound to happen when you were separated from civilization for eight years. The man wore a dark blue suit which reeked of sewage and dirt, and his face had a large, unkempt beard. A smile appeared from behind that large beard as he realized that Ryan had no idea what he was talking about. The man's smile disappeared as he realized the full situation. He said gruffly, "You might want to sit down, this may take a while."

Ryan listened intently and in awe of what happened after something called the "portal storm". He listened and learned of what happened after he disappeared into the woods. He heard of the brutality of the things called the "combine". He also heard of what the combine gave to humanity. He heard of the cities that the combine erected and how they housed every one of the citizens, and fed them. He just sat there listening with intent as the man exaggerated the cruelty of the civil protection. After the man finished his exceptionally long tale, Ryan's brow furrowed in deep thought.

The man stood from where he had sat and sighed as he checked his makeshift watch. He turned to Ryan and said, "You might want to get some sleep, we can't move you back to the outlands tonight, extra metro's moving around. Oh, and my name's Jack. Jack Uriah."

Ryan nodded and laid down on his dirty mattress. Jack gave a big yawn then he put his pipe in a makeshift sling. Jack disappeared around the corner and his foot steps faded away. Ryan slowly got to his feet and looked inside the small wooden cabinet laying next to the cot he had laid down. He found a old looking uniform and slowly disrobed, curious of the new world he had just entered, and slowly put on the new citizens uniform. He slowly felt the pockets of the new uniform and found nothing of interest. The acrid smell of the sewer slowly disappeared as he entered the metropolis.
For the next year Ryan slowly became a loyalist and adapted to the life of a citizen, he was able to blend in and become just another face in the crowd. He made very little friends and he never spoke to to roommates, but he was quick to learn from the friends that he did make. The friends he made were of off duty metro-police officers, and he admired them. Ryan admired them for their power and how they operated so orderly. Ryan slowly migrated all over the world, and boarded many transit stations that took him to many new places. His loyalist status was carried with him always, but he began to envy the civil protection for their better nourishment. He soon was transferred to city 11, where he applied to the Metropolitan Police Force.

Provide an example of passive roleplay as a Civil Protection Unit (App 2+ Paragraphs): The metro-police officer walks into the room and upholsters his USP Match. He takes his gloved hands and begins pushes down on the points of the pistol. He slides the barrel off of the handle and sets the barrel down on the table. He gets a bit of cleaning oil and dips it onto a cloth, then begins to clean the bottom half of the weapon. He gets the oil and begins to oil the springs, then gets a pipe cleaner and apply cleaning solution to it. He slowly works the pipe cleaner into the bottom half of the barrel. He sets the handle down and picks then top half of the barrel up, and repeats what he did with the bottom half of the barrel. He picks up his pistol and slides the barrel back into place.
The unit takes his stun baton from his belt and unscrews the cap on the top of his baton. He walks over to the sink and begins to run cold water onto the top of the baton. Blood begins to flow from the baton and a little bit of bone fragment. He turns off the cold water and sits back down at the table, then takes a rag from his pocket and begins to dry the top of the baton off. He lays the rag down on the table and sets the baton on top of it. He leaves the room to monitor the radio chatter of the paroling units. He returns to the room fifteen minutes later and inspects the baton. Satisfied with the cleaning of it he screws the cap back on and attaches it to his belt. He takes the rag and puts it back into his pocket, then leaves the room.

Hard to read the story when it is all grouped together like that, use Tab or something to make an indent, bro. :fffuuuuu:
    Also, it seems really uncanon.

I was kind of putting this off... but do I really need to say it? Change the story, man. I'm not a complete canon-nazi when it comes to background stories, but you really raped the storyline in its eye-sockets with that one.
